After much consideration and discussion in recent months PICA is pleased to announce that its performance space will continue to be available for contemporary performance seasons as well as rehearsals.
The PICA team has been overwhelmed by the enormous encouragement it has received from the arts community and the many friends of PICA, and we want to thank you all for this invaluable support.
This is good news that we are keen to share, although it does mean that a reduced program will be on offer next year under the management of a moderate deficit budget.
It is both an exciting and testing time for the presentation of performance in Perth and PICA is not alone in facing fiscal challenges. We are however, committed to multi-arts programming across a range of onsite and offsite spaces and have enjoyed much success since the implementation of our contemporary performance strategy in 2008.
The board and staff of PICA are determined to capitalise on that success and work towards re-building the organisation’s performance program in the coming years. We look forward to your continued support in this quest.
We will soon be letting you know how artists and companies can access our performance space in 2011.
Meanwhile make sure you experience our next major performance initiative, NOW RIGHT NOW! a season of live art which takes place throughout the city from 6 November - 19 December. Check the PICA website for details of these amazing events so you don’t miss a thing!
PICA's ongoing programs are primarily supported by an investment from the State of Western Australia through the Department of Culture and the Arts, with assistance from Lotterywest and assistance from the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body. PICA is supported by the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, State and Territory Governments.
